You will be notified whether or not you are awarded an upgrade and receive an email confirmation. If you are awarded with an upgrade, you will be charged at the hotel - usually at check out. If you don’t receive an upgrade, you keep your originally booked room and pay nothing extra.
You will receive an email confirmation when the hotel has confirmed or rejected your offer.
If you have requested an upgrade and it is awarded by the hotel, the upgrade is considered as confirmed and non-cancellable. Therefore, please just make an offer if you are committed in receiving and paying for the upgrade.
